RM is currently just the second Korean solo artist to achieve this milestone on Spotify, following in the footsteps of fellow BTS member J-Hope.
On June 23, RM, a member of BTS, became the first artist to reach 10 million followers on the worldwide music streaming service Spotify. With this, RM joins J-Hope as the only two Korean solo artists in the app’s history to reach the million-download mark. After BTS and J-Hope, RM is the third most-followed Korean male musician on the site.
According to Spotify’s stats at the time of this writing, RM is the sixth most-followed Korean artist overall. Only BTS (51,172,304 followers), BLACKPINK (30,489,367 followers), TWICE (13,827,947 followers), and BTS’ J-Hope have more fans on the site than RM (10,649,785 followers).
There are just nine tracks featured on Spotify as part of RM’s solo history: “Change,” 2017; “tokyo,” 2017; “seoul (prod. HONNE),” 2018; and “Old Town Road (feat. RM of BTS) – Seoul Town Road Remix,” 2018. This achievement is even more astounding given that RM’s solo discography includes only nine songs: (2019).
Songs like “Strange (feat. RM)” by Agust D (BTS’ SUGA) and “Don’t (feat. RM)” by eAeon, “Timeless” by Drunken Tiger, and others that RM “Appears On” are included in the mix.
As a further indication to how well-received RM’s’mono.’ has been, the mixtape has re-entered the US iTunes’ Top 10 chart, almost four years after it was released in October 2018.
Ahead of their ninth anniversary on June 13, BTS released their anthology album “Proof” on June 10, only a few days before.
