The government of Sindh has made the decision to conduct the inaugural ceremony of the Orange Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) to be inaugurated today (Saturday) with as little pomp and circumstance as possible in light of the flood disaster that has befallen the nation.
Sharjeel Inam Memon, the minister of information and transport for the province of Sindh, issued a statement on Friday indicating that the inaugural ceremony for the Orange Line BRT will be done in a way that was straightforward and without the customary amount of fuss.
He said that beginning on Saturday, passengers will be allowed to use the Orange Line bus service. He went on to say that the Orange Line BRTS that had been built by the Sindh government was a reflection of the vision that the chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, had about the provision of contemporary mass transport services to the people of Karachi.
The late benefactor Abdul Sattar Edhi has been honoured with the naming of the Orange Line Bus Rapid Transit project. Through a corridor that is 3.88 kilometres long, it links Orangi Town with the junction that is located at the Board Office in Nazimabad. There are five seats available on the Orange Line bus service.
