KARACHI: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has suspended the basic party membership of its MNA Abdul Shakoor Sha
In the show-cause notice that the PTI issued, Abdul Shakoor Shad was given the opportunity to answer to the allegations within a week. You have not only sent in your resignation in writing form, but you have also tweeted it from your Twitter account. The warning said that your comment on Twitter brought attention to the fact that you had previously held the position of MNA.
In addition, it said that the MNA had handed in their nomination papers in order to run as a covering candidate in the NA-246 by-election. It said, “You have behaved against the party policy and also talked to media on the topic,” and it requested an explanation from him within the next week as to why his basic membership in the party should not be withdrawn as a result of his actions.
On Friday, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted the petition of PTI lawmaker Shakoor Shad to suspend a notification from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) that would have declared the NA-246 Lyari constituency vacant. It is important to note that this decision was made in response to Shakoor Shad’s request.
After the resignations of 11 PTI MNAs were accepted by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, the ECP declared the seat to be vacant.
However, Shakoor Shad later approached the court and pleaded that he had not personally submitted the resignation and that it had rather been forwarded by the party to which he had submitted it to show solidarity with the then prime minister Imran Khan. Shakoor Shad had initially submitted the resignation to the party to which he had submitted it.
