According to a report by Geo News, educationist and politician Hunaid Lakhani died suddenly on Thursday at a hospital in Karachi due to dengue infection.
Iqra University was named after him and he served as its first chancellor.
According to sources within Lakhani’s family, despite receiving treatment for dengue virus at a hospital in Karachi, Lakhani was unable to recover from the illness.
On Friday, following the conclusion of Asr prayers, the funeral prayers for him will be held at the Masjid-e-Saheem in Khayaban-e-Rahat.
In response to the sad news of Lakhani’s untimely passing, a number of prominent academics and officials, including the President of Pakistan, have sent their condolences.
Lakhani maintained his membership in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement of Pakistan (MQM-P). In addition to that, he and Alamgir Khan, an MNA for the PTI, established the FIXIT organisation.
